| The following is an excerpt from a letter written by Chris Boyle to The Pumamouse, below which is a link for a very special sound file which I have simply labeled as "Mr. LM Radio: David Davies". The excerpt explains the nature of this extremely rare sound file quite nicely. The excerpt and the "Mr. LM Radio: David Davies" sound file are included here at The Pumamouse Website with Mr. Boyle's knowledge and very kind permission. Thank you, Chris!!! |

A VERY SPECIAL SOUND FILE |
| EXCERPT FROM A LETTER WRITTEN BY CHRIS BOYLE TO THE PUMAMOUSE (2002): "Interesting enough, my entire collection of LM recordings comes from one of LM's dee-jays, Peter De Nobrega. His show was called "On The Beat With Pete!" His theme tune was the old Commodore's number, "Machine Gun". When Radio Five turned five years old, having taken over from LM, there was a TV party held in LM's honour. A lot of the old dee-jays were present, and there were a lot of tears! Some recordings of LM were included. I wanted them. I just had to have them. The recordings became almost a fetish with me. I phoned umpteen people, begged, cajoled, and threatened. Eventually, I got hold of Peter. It took a mountain of persuading to get him to let me copy what he had. I went round to his home one morning and got what I have. Peter was reluctant to give me the tapes, thinking that I may try to gain something in terms of selling them. I promised that I wouldn't, not for financial gain. Seventeen years or so later, a request was made for this and other material by another radio enthusiast. I was reluctant to part with my treasure. What did he want it for? I contacted Peter De Nobrega. Initially, Peter couldn't remember me, but after I'd jogged his memory, he was overjoyed that I'd had the decency to ask for his sanction on passing on what was, in part, initially his. Peter's comment was to do with my recordings as I wished. In fact, he told me that he'd lost his tapes, and to the best of his knowledge, I had the only surviving recordings of LM. Hence, my surprise when I heard your collection! I've told you all of this just to give you a little background into the history of my LM tapes. The tapes that I'll pass on are special. Please treat them with the cherished respect that I feel is due to them. After all, as I've said before, if LM hadn't been there, I'd have gone out of my mind having to spend as long as I did in hospital!" |
