| Wed, 06 Aug 2003 Hi MaryAnne, Thanks for writing back. Where do I start telling you about a nice kind handsome man...lol. I know all daughters think their dads are wonderful. But I think mine is very special indeed. Though he wasn't around much when I was growing up, I still turned on the radio each weekend so I could listen to him on Radio Jacaranda in Salisbury. He worked alongside his buddy Martin Locke. He was a DJ and played really cool stuff even if I was just a kid. He used to work behind the record bar at Radio Ltd and on the side promoted some seriously big names. I got to meet Pat Boone, The Drifters, Holy Black, and a whole list of stars of that time. Today - its wow...then it was...eh...just another day. Then he starred in a whole lot of adverts and had half of the girls and ladies in Salisbury fainting away. It was funny. He had a lot of fans. He did commercials for Prudential, some Fridge specialists, SAA and a whole lot of others as well. The list is endless. He stayed in the Music business and was manager of Teal for a short while but the music business is a cutthroat business and he got disillusioned by the infighting etc and decided to give that up. He didn't give up music altogether. I am sure there are many people out there who appreciate him doing the music to their weddings. He would take his set-up and record the entire wedding procedures each weekend. On Reel to reel. Then they would have a keepsake forever. My mom used to get quite annoyed I can tell you. He then joined the Prudential Assurance Brokers and became a salesman with them and he still does Insurance today. One of his major claims to fame came when he was selected to play Christ in the St. Georges College Passion Play they had. Though it rained the entire day of the play, there must have been 2000 people to watch. He got a major write-up in the papers the next day. I was very proud of him. I have enclosed a pic from Radio Jacaranda days, TV days and his favorite pic taken with his friend, singer Mickie Most. If any Rhodesians out there remember Trig Tregaskis. He lives in Umhlanga Rocks now and can be found at Insurance Broking Services. He still loves his music and has passed the torch to me. I am his daughter Genie. Since moving to SA he has lost contact with a lot of old Rhodie friends. Anyone wishing to contact him on email write to trig@ibsmail.co.za |
