Welcome to the "YOUR FINISHED PROJECTS" webpage of The Pumamouse Website.
When we were looking at your "My Favorite Afghan" design, my wife thought I could make it, so we downloaded the instructions, and you know the remainder of the story. You have me excited about your new project using camouflage yarn, and I will look forward to finding it on the website. I am a retired USAF Lt. Colonel. I volunteered and entered the Army in 1942. I served in South American, Africa, and Europe during the war, (WWII). I also served during the Berlin Airlift, flying critical goods into Berlin. I flew over 600 combat hours in B-29's during the Korean War. My aeronautical rating was Master Navigator. I retired in 1973.

This webpage has been created to feature the photos which I have received from website guests who have kindly written to share the wonderful news of their completed crochet projects, using one or more of The Pumamouse's original crochet patterns. If you have tried and completed any of my original designs, I would love to see your results, and I would be delighted to include a photo of your handiwork on this webpage. I hope to hear from you soon! Actually, I have long wished to include a webpage such as this...I have been waiting for three years, to be exact. Since The Pumamouse Website was born, I have received numerous email letters from website guests who have tried and completed one or more of my original patterns. Unfortunately, I have never received any photos of their completed projects until now. And so, this webpage has finally been made, with eager anticipation that perhaps more photos will follow in 2005! Squeak of Joy! In case you are wondering about my choice of an uncharacteristically bland background color for this webpage, I am using a neutral color in an effort not to distract from the vibrant beauty of the crochet projects which are depicted. Now, here are the first featured photos which I have received from a website guest, along with excerpts from his emailed letters to The Pumamouse. Oh yes, you read that right...a distinguished gentleman is the first website guest to have sent a photo of his completed crochet project. Have a look at this...

MaryAnne, Here is your 82 year old protege. This is my third afghan, and left handed, too! This is Red Heart yarn called "Aspen Print". Your "My Favorite Afghan" pattern is a delight to crochet as it is easy to remember, not an easy chore for anyone my age.
My grandmother quilted and crocheted as long as I can remember. We have several of her finished items. She also was skilled at tatting. My mother quilted and croched all her life. She taught my wife shortly after we were married, over 58 years ago. As I became acquainted with the hand crafted art, I thought it unusual that none of them ever knitted. One day my wife was making yo-yos for a throw. I watched her for a time and said, "I can do that". Well, about 3500 yo-yos later, we had completed a bedspread, along with a throw and another item. She was crocheting along with making the yo-yos, and I became fascinated with the little effort it required to make a fine piece of work. She had a terrible time teaching me since I am left handed and she is right handed, but with several sessions, standing in front of me, I mastered the single and double crochet. I made an afghan for my grandson using ends of yarn, then I made another afghan for my granddaughter. This is my first attempt, using only single and double crochets, and using the ends of skeins left over from other works:
And this is my beautiful granddaughter with my second attempt. Her favorite color is purple, so I used purple and lavender:

Well, my friends, I think you will agree, impressive photos and intriguing personal comments like these were definitely worth my three year long wait! Thank you, Hugh!!! In my opinion, this "YOUR FINISHED PROJECTS" webpage is now off to an excellent start. However, it can only grow if you provide the photos. Therefore, please, if you use any of my original patterns to make something, send an email to tell me about it, and include a photo! As always, I wish you many happy hours of handiwork, and the best of luck for success! The Pumamouse (MaryAnne) 1 January 2005
