| IN MEMORIUM PAUL BERESFORD (1939-2002) Yet another voice on the late Springbok Radio has passed. Popular continuity announcer, news caster, presenter and programme deviser, Paul Beresford, sadly passed away. He started his radio career in SA on Springbok Radio on 1 September 1973 and remained there until June 1980. During 1980 he moved on to Channel 702 (Radio 702) and became famous there as a traffic reporter in the 702 traffic helicopter. He retired in the late 1990’s from radio but his familiar well spoken voice will not easily be forgotten by many radio listeners in SA. Paul was the originator and creator of several popular programmes on Springbok Radio, including “The Cold Power Hot Line”, “Road to Fortune”, “Cross Talk” and the very popular English Service programme “Take a Chance”. “……this is Paul Beresford signing off…..” Frans Erasmus (Johannesburg) 18 December 2002 |
