| Springbok Radio was the first commercial radio service in South Africa. Without the funding from the Sponsors and the commercial advertisements, there simply would not have been any Springbok Radio. The "Springbok Radio Sound File" webpage was created on 1 January 2002. Subsequently, several memorable commercial sound files were included, along with the sound files snippets of various Springbok Radio series. Like the series snippets, some of the commericals were added by direct request. For many website visitors, the old advertisements reportedly evoke as many fond recollections as the snippets of the various series. In fact, based upon the positive feedback received, I believe the popularity of the commercials warrants the creation of a separate group of webpages. And so, this "FROM THE MARKETPLACE" subsection has been created. To further enhance your nostalgic experience, images of the products are now included whenever available. By clicking on the image of any product, you may download and hear the commercial for that product which once aired on Springbok Radio. Whenever a product image is not available, the product name is used. Reference information, such as the commercial date and the name of presenter, are also included whenever that information is known. Throughout the South African Old-Time Radio section of The Pumamouse Website, images and sounds are routinely offered separately. However, the "FROM THE MARKETPLACE" subsection is unique. The product images and sounds have been grouped together on several webpages according to their general category, just as they might be grouped together within a supermarket or shopping center. A "PRODUCT DIRECTORY" is included below this introduction for your easy reference. By clicking on the "FROM THE MARKETPLACE" links located directly below the "PRODUCT DIRECTORY", you will be able to access the "SHOP AISLE" webpages. From each "SHOP AISLE" webpage, you will be able to see a variety of product images, and then click on any image to download and hear the corresponding Springbok Radio commercial sound file. Due to the inclusion of several product images on each of the "SHOP AISLE" webpages within this subsection, each "SHOP AISLE" webpage may take a few minutes to fully open, depending upon the speed of your Internet connection. However, I hope that you will find the resulting combination of this unique visual and audio presentation worth the wait. It is certainly worth the price, since it is all free! As usual, the sound files are offered in .mp3 format. To enjoy them, you must have an .mp3 Player program installed on your computer, such as Windows Media Player or WinAmp. The actual play time of these sound files vary, and the download time for each sound file depends upon the speed of your Internet connection.
