Springbok Radio was the first commercial radio service in South Africa. Some might argue that it was the best radio service available in South Africa from 1 May 1950 through 31 December 1985. However, it was certainly not the only radio service available in South Africa. Indeed, the more I learn about South African radio history, the more I know I have to learn.
Webpages devoted to the English Radio Service, Afrikaans Radio Service, All Night Radio Service, and External Radio Service of South Africa have been included in the "Other South African Radio Services" subsection.
In addition to those four popular services, there were several regional and alternative radio services that also warrant mention, some of which are still in operation today. Thus, this “Regional South African Radio Services” subsection has been created to provide a place for webpages devoted to these radio services at The Pumamouse Website.
This subsection is currently under construction, and due to its varied subject matter, it may take some time before it is completed. However, by clicking on the special logo links below, you will be able to see and hear any histories, photos, and sound files for each radio service as they are made available.
